We have been hit by the allergy season BIG time here! The last two weeks have been a total blur of sick people at my house....so I am behind!

A few things I missed......

I got an AWESOME new custom blog, done by Amanda May Designs. I won a free basic blog makeover on Giveaway Corner, and paid a little extra to get a deluxe redo :) I ♥ my new blog. Amanda did an amazing job designing graphics that are perfect for me (with just a bunch of jumbled ideas I gave her) This girl totally rocks, she is very fast, professional and TALENTED! I would recommend Amanda May Designs to anyone who wants to customize their blog. Amanda also does pre-made blog templates, business branding and has an esty store that sells graphic art, custom invites, and custom business cards.

Next on the list of things I missed....

I was featured on Practical Scrappers for Mother/Daughter Layouts.

Its an honor to be featured on their blog, wish I had been on here sooner to post about it.

I still feel completely behind with life in general right now. My son ended up in the ER with pneumonia and asthma, then the next week had a horrible allergic reaction to something (maybe my mother's day flowers) My husband has bronchitis and double ear infections. So I am running on fumes trying to take care of everything and the sickies.... hopefully I don't get sick from being run down :( The allergens in the air right now are brutal, and we are all living on double doses of allergy meds. Hoping to get some creative time soon....

You will have until the following Thursday at midnight eastern time, to upload your challenge into the appropriate thread on the forum to continue on in the My Scraps talent search. At the end of the eight weeks, A My Scraps and More Talent star will be rewarded with a box of scrap goodies for sharing their talents! Along with the grand prize winner, someone will be randomly chosen each week among the participants of the challenge, to win a prize as well!

My Scraps DT Call

Just finished up my entry for the MyScraps DT call.

The LO was based on this recipe:

M…use products from your favorite Manufacturer
Y…yellow - got to have a little of the color somewhere on your layout
S…sewing - either with a machine or hand stitching, get that needle going!
C…circles – include at least one on your layout
R…ribbon – pull some out of your stash and use it here
A… All About You!
P…punch – use at least one on your page
S…style – make a layout that shows yours!

Lets see....M: my fave manufacturers... Well I have lots :), here we have some Sassafrass Lass, Jeni Bowlin, a little Hambly, even some October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket.

Y: Yellow...yep got some yellow :)

R: ribbon....a bit of cream color ball trim/ribbon

S: sewing, decided I didn't want a machine sewed look on this, so I did some hand sewing. I sewed on the two black buttons with silver thread, and I sewed down the corners of the photo strip.

A: all about you...check!

P: Punch, you can see the treading water punch peaking out above.

C: circles..... a few small circles peeking out, from the notebook paper, the toad stool below is also on a circle. {the toad stool is coated in glossy accents, so its raised in person}

and S: style...... well, Its hard to do one LO that encompasses my style, as it really depends on the paper. So I did some of my favorite things....... fussy cutting, layering, mixing designers, hand sewing.

Okay, its official....I am calling my crafty Hiatus to an end! Its been a long few months getting the kids school into a great routine {we made some HUGE changes this year to our homeschooling} And I can no longer stand not being crafty! I miss the glitter all over my clothes, the paint on my fingers, and the deadlines of design teams {yes, I know....crazy lady misses deadlines.....they give me a push♥}

So here is a kick off to the end of the break...... I finally get to share the LOs that I created for Sketches2scrapbook {and awesome ipad app created by the talented Anam Stubbington}

You will have to check out the app to get all the yummy sketches :) I did take a sneaky little break from all craftiness in January..... I had the honor of working with Anam again and making a card for the newest version of her app, Sketches4cards

Wow, I can't believe that I haven't posted on here since the end of August! The beginning of the school year really threw me for a loop. I am finally on top of everything now, will soon be moved into our new home and setting up my new scrappy space. I am itching to get back to work, I need to paint or glitter something!

I do have one project that I haven't shared, because it was still in the secret stages ♥ I had the honor of working on Sketches2scrapbook. This is a new iphone app, hopefully releasing in November, created by Anam Stubbington. I got to work with two of her beautiful sketches, my art will be on the app as inspiration for the corresponding sketches.

Hopefully I will soon have some new art to put up on here :)

this page was inspired by one of my hubby's books, you never know were you will find inspiration :)

I stamped the kraft paper with several different stamps and inks.

We will be posting sketches through out the day on Friday (July 16) and Saturday (July 17) for your inspiration! AND because we wanna keep it fresh you will actually have 2 chances for the grand prize with EACH SKETCH!!!!! So, yup....you can actually complete each sketch TWICE BUT there is a catch....(you know there has to be a catch)....

With each sketch there will also be a 'challenge' posted. You MAY complete two layouts for each sketch this time! Your choice, one with the sketch, and then one with the challenge! BUT if you use BOTH of them for each time you MUST TURN,FLIP, or MIRROR the sketch! For example, if you use the sketch and the challenge on one layout then want to complete it again, you MUST TURN, FLIP or MIRROR it for a second one, even if you are just doing the sketch on the second one. Going out of Business Sale - Everything is 40% off. This will run until July 31st. If your order does not fit into one Priority Mail box, I will contact you about additional shipping charges; but as much as I can stuff into one box I will happily ship to you for my regular $5.50 charge. Orders may not be processed as fast as usual, as I am expecting a large number of orders to come in at once. Scrapbook Heaven "Dad's and Grad's Crop and Hop"

So glad you have stopped by for the Scrapbook Heaven "Dads and Grads" Blog Hop & Crop. If you have no idea what I am talking about, check out the details here!

I would like to show you a fun card/gift card or money holder that would be perfect for the Grads in your life.... Or for a dad (you could fill it with coupons created by the kids)

This 4 pocket card is made out of a business sized envie

okay, you should be able to click on this pic and make it bigger to see the dimensions...

You want to seal the envelope and them trim the ends to make it 9inches long. The create a fold line 4inches over from the left

when folded it will be uneven

and you should have created two pockets

using a circle punch or by hand cut out a notch in the top of each pocket, this will make it easier to remove the tags or gift cards/money placed the pockets before giving

inking the edges of your envie to match your chosen papers, cover the outside pocket and the inside of each pockets with pattern paper

Now you are going to create the top pockets:

1st strip for the pockets is 3"x11 3/4"

with folds at 3/4" 3" 4" and 4" remaining

2nd strip for pockets is 3"x4 1/4"

with folds at 3/4" and 3" with 1/2" remaining

fold direction for long piece, you want the side of the paper that you want visible on top

fold for short piece (1/2" flap is now on the lefthand side)

Join the two strips as show above (click on pic)

the 1/2" flap on the short piece hooks under the 4" flap on the long piece creating a W shape

closed W....now is the time to round corners or use boarder punches on strips

open up the card and glue the folded strips on bottom pocket, 1/2" from the fold line. The flaps (now boarder punched) will fold over the front and back of the card when closed.

you can cover the topside of the bottom pocket with a strip of paper anytime during this step. once the top pockets are in-place glue the card closed (glue the top pocket down ontop of the bottom pocket)

you will need to glue down the flaps from the top pockets

be sure to ink and cover the back with paper, and then glue down the pocket flap

Now just decorate and add tags-journaling cards-money-giftcards........

Now it’s your turn! Create a project using this tutorial and upload it to the Scrapbook Heaven Gallery or post a link to your project on this blog post by June 25th. One lucky random winner will be selected to receive a prize

This month I worked with the awesome new company Echo Park and their first release Sweet Summertime

the paper pack that I worked with is already sold out but the papers and stickers are still available individually...Hurry before they are gone as well! . Below is the 12x12 card-stock sticker sheet from the line

Okay, I finally gave in and did my first LO with a banner (or bunting) and I have to say that these stickers made it SOOOooooo easy! I added a little stickles and a few buttons to the banner for some quick dimension

these bright summery colors are perfect for outdoors photos.

I also used some of the new Tiny Type letter stickers from Cosmo Cricket. Love these! They are perfect for subtitles, and even small enough to use for journaling. ES is carrying them in 6 fun colors.

Boy I have been crazy busy lately and not blogging much, but I am scrapping :)
this weeks twisted sketch was a fun one to work with, and the twist is "acrylic" I used a small acrylic bird colored with gold alcohol inks. Be sure to head over to Twisted Sketches to get your copy of the sketch!

I haven't played with my inks in a while, gotta get those out more often!

while I was digging through my stash I found one lonely piece of grunge board....so it had to go on the page :)

May Challenge at Everything Scrappin

As Heather is busy buying new items for the store, and uploading new goodies, I took a stroll through my box of scraps created over the past year working on the DT for EverythingScrappn. My card is a mix of my favorite paper lines that I worked with this past year. Webster's Pages "Nature's Storybook" for the background, Basic Grey's "Nook and Pantry" and Graphic 45's "Domestic Goddess" for the flowers, and I used the Pink Paislee Christmas line for the base of the card. So here is your inspiration for this months challenge...... Mix your manufactures! You need to use at least 3 paper lines from different companies, you can use them for layering and building a LO or for making embellishments. This months winner will receive a $10 gift cert to the ES store. Be sure to check out the ES blog for all the details.

this one was for a challenge at Scrapbook Heaven, using a touch of glitter. My very sweet Benny made these stars and wanted me to scrapbook with them, so TA-DA

there is just a small touch of glitter, I didn't want to outshine those awesome stars :)

so I had to use a title that only makes sense to my family "Tiger Moose"

This is an inside thing with my Dad and his grandkids. He calls them tiger mooses, and they always salute him with Moose ears.

the flower is made of used drier sheets that have been colored with glimmer mist. after the circles are cut out I roll them in a ball and rub around them in the palm of my hand, this gives the circles a felted look (it also shrinks them, so make the circles bigger then you want them at the end)

this weeks twist is "clean", since I tend to do a lot of inking, distressing and layering I decided to use the word clean to describe my style with this LO...clean and simple!

1st stop Mary Adams beach on the Smith river :)

the kids climbed some rocks :)

headed to Brookings and ate lunch at the hungry clam...yummy :)

took pictures with a living statue, he was really cool :)

headed to Harris Beach...aaaahhhhh, I love this beach :)

threated to dunk a monkey in the ocean :)

ran from some waves :)

.Hi everyone :) its my turn to host the monthly contest here at Everything Scrappn....

I am so excited to see Spring ring forth. I can't wait for sunny days, flowers, and gentle spring rains. This month's challenge is all about the coming Spring. You can create a layout or an altered piece. First, I want to see flowers, at least 3, but not plain or simple flowers. You can either create your own flowers (from fabric, paper, felt, etc. whatever you wish) or if you chose to use a Prima type flower, you need to alter it somehow to make it uniquely yours. Second, I want to see the color blue on your project. Something blue that will remind us of Spring rains that nourish the soil. Last, you will need something yellow or gold to represent the warm Spring sunshine on your project. I can't wait to see what you create and hopefully Spring will join us all soon!"

Here's my example for you called "flower child" I made two rolled paper flowers and I altered two white prima flowers with stamps, stazon and glimmer mist.

For my 2nd project this month I created easter baskets out of the Basic Grey Nook & Pantry line. I also used a few of the "woolies" flowers from the line

Oh, I am just in love with this weeks twisted sketch! and I had so much fun with this weeks twist.....fabric. I quilted together a circle of corduroy and a circle of seersucker. ES Feb Challenge

Wow, I can believe that its the last day of February...time is just flying by!

So it's the 28th & that means Everything Scrapp'n Design Team Blog Hop & monthly challenge. Michelle challenged us to use a holiday themed paper in an everyday way. The design team will be showing off Pink Paislee Cupid.

I found this green frame on clearance for 50cents and just fell in love with the color! The cherry blossoms are heat embossed with 3 layers of clear powder to give them a lacquered look and to make them more durable. The little birdie has been glittered and glazed with glossy accents and then crackled for a broken glass effect. I was trying for the look of a little countryside vignette....with tree, rolling hills and the golden glow of the sun.

My 2nd project this month is a LO with the Graphic 45 line "domestic goddess" I made an altered project with this line last year and wanted to use up some of my scraps. I just started sewing on my projects and really love the finished look that it add to a layout. Its kinda hard to see in the small pic (you can click on it and make it bigger) but, I wanted it to look like the outer layers {papers} are being peeled back to reveal us. I had a lot of fun with the embellies on this one. the Flower on the left was made with layers of fabric and tulle cut into different sized circles and then "squished" into shape and anchored with a few stitches and a button. The flower on the right is a quick fabric yo-yo

ES Valentine's blog hop

Welcome to the last stop in this months ES blog hop! If you have not seen the whole hop, head over to the everythingscrappn blog and start from the beginning.

This month I used the "Cupid" line from Pink Paislee.

This has got to be one of the most versatile Valentine's lines I have ever used. I love the bright colors and the fun prints.

This first project is an altered/home decor item. I found this great frame and easel on sale at a big chain store..... I just had to dress it up.

Just a little gold tulle, some stick pins and a flower cut from the "Hearts Bloom" paper. The sign is from the Cupid punch-outs

I had some fabric scraps laying around that were just beggin to become flowers... this one is a simple yo-yo flowers, misted with a little aqua glimmermist.

This flower took awhile and is fairly thick. Its a rolled fabric flower. I added some ga-ga glitz art institute glitter to the top

Oh, and now for my LO....

fairly simple, an inset heart, a little sewing and lots of handcutting.

Please for give me for the late post....my blond is showing through :) I misunderstood the directions for the early bloghop.

When you think of February you think of LOVE! At ScrapMuse we are going to dedicate the month of February to spreading the love. "Spread the Love" will be a month long contest held on the ScrapMuse message board. We are going to spend the first 5 days of February getting everything ready for you. You will have the rest of the month to earn points by spreading the love about Scrapmuse, participating in weekly challenges, joining our Blog Hop, and posting on the message board. Since the contest is all about love.....there will also be random "love" points handed out! I got some canvases the other night, and just couldn't wait to work with them. They are 12x16, which is bigger than I normally work with. After driving home from my parents the other day, and listening to JJ Hellers CD for about 3 hours straight I knew that this was the first canvas I wanted to complete! I finished it in one night...... thats amazing considering the amount of layering, embossing, glazing, stamping, painting and texturing that went into it.....not that you can really see all of that in the pic :) I don't do enough art that is just for me, so when I do I really pour into it. I have another canvas planned with psalm 31 on it....... just have to find the right paper as the jumping off point. Here's the song that inspired the canvas, hope you are blessed by it. Not sure yet where I am going to put this canvas, I love how it turned out, but I am not sure if it goes with my house :)

I have scrapped this pic before but I just love it! this time I went to www.picnik.com and played around with the photo effects, I settled on a old Holga camera effect. The bright papers go great with the dark black and white pic

The other night I was eating some yummy Dagoba Dark Chocolate squares and decided to keep the pretty pieces of gold foil that they were wrapped in..... this one ended up as a scalloped heart rubbed with antique linen distress stickles ;)

and of course, a quick little card for Valentine's Day with my scraps :)

Reveal Day!!!

Yay! Today is Reveal day for the ScrapMuse DT!!! This months MegaMuse is full of Webster's Pages and Fancy Pants..... what a fun combination! Everything from soft girlie shabby chic to fun and funky freestyle pages are possible with this kit. And don't forget, Melissa packs these full of awesome embellies! This month we got play with some Tim Holtz' Rock Candy Crackle {I should have my article on this awesome product soon} I still have a big full of embellies to keep creating with. So with out further ado...........

I was so excited to get my box of goodies this month, I am totally in love with these great lines from Webster's pages! I worked with 12x12 sheets of the Nature's storybook line and 6x6 sheet of Postcards from Paris and Sweet as Cherry pie (this combo pad is now sold out :( )

My first project is an altered canvas, I used this great patterned paper as the base:

The lace is vintage, the flower from prima and the leaves are stamped onto the Webster's Pages with a hero arts stamp and then cut out.

I had a lot of fun this month with my projects! This Christmas ornament is fashioned after a Victorian fan. I can't wait to see it on a tree.

this little Sparrow is going to be a ornament on my Christmas tree this year :) He is a little hard to get a good photo of, so I took it from different angles. Made from Webster's pages Nature's Story book line~ Nature's Story Book

We are looking for motivated scrappers that can commit to daily participation in both our message board and gallery. We are looking for a variety of Scrapbooking styles.

Welcome to the Everything Scrapp'n Design Team Blog Hop. My first project this month is an altered Canvas made with the Amber Road line from Pink Paislee. I am just in love with the beautiful rich colors in this line.

The base of the project is made with the "apple cider" patterned paper, with the strip being the backside of the same paper. The fun scalloped edge was created using the Amber Road Impressions Stamps. Amber Road - Impressions Stamps

I used the boarder stamp from the set and stamped along my strip of paper, and then cut around the design to create a scalloped boarder.

The flowers/rosettes on the project were made from the Amber Road Canvas patches, seen below. In the next few days I will have a tutorial up on my blog, showing how to make them. Amber Road - Patches

I also wanted to make a few cards with this line. The Amber Road "punch-out" diecuts and journaling cards make card making easy, quick and cute!

I am sucker for anything "50's Housewife" So this line "Domestic Goddess" from Graphic 45 was a must have for me! It would make great altered recipe cards or recipe books, heritage pages, or a fun page with recent pics... maybe baking cupcakes with your daughter :)

Paper Pumpkins tutorial

Materials needed:

4 sheets of double sided paper
6 brads
thread or string
tape runner or glue
crop-a-dile or small hole puncher
pencil or paint brush to curl paper strips

The instructions for all 3 sizes of the pumpkins are the same, the measurements of the paper strips are the only thing that differs. The pattern paper with the stripes is for the curls, stems and leaves, the other 3 are for the pumpkins. It is your choice which paper to use for which size pumpkin.

Step 1

Cutting the paper strips

Large Pumpkin: Cut 12 strips @ 1 inch by 12 inches

Medium Pumpkin: Cut 12 strips @ 1 inch by 10 inches

Small Pumpkin: Cut 12 strips @ 1 inch by 8 inches

From the striped paper cut: 6-9 strips @ 1/4 inch by 12 inches for the paper curls (2-3 per pumpkin)

Cut 1 strip at 2 inches By 12 inches and then cut it into 3 pieces (2 inched by 4 inches) for the stems

Step 2

Assembling the pumpkin (working on the large one)

Stack all 12 strips of paper

Using a crop-a-dile or a small hole punch, punch through the stack,(about 1/4 inch from the top and centered)

Insert a brad through the hole

Separate the strips, alternating which side each strip is moved to.

Pull the ends together and punch a whole through the ends. Make sure you get through all of them. You will notice that the ends are not even so go up far enough that you get all the ends.

Place a brad through the newly created hole, keeping the paper strips in a circle shape

Step 3

Forming the pumpkin

Tie a long piece of thread around the brad on the inside of the pumpkin (see pic)

To give the pumpkin it’s oval shape, slip the ends of the string under the tines of the opposite brad and pull to get the shape you desire

after you get the shape you like, tie off the thread so it will stay

Now you can open up the pumpkin (my example pumpkin is made with only 8 strips of paper, so yours will be fuller)

Step 4

Decoration the pumpkin

Free hand cut a few leaves from your scrap papers and adhere them to the top of the pumpkin. Curl the thin strips of paper around a pencil or thin paint brush

Curls can be twisted and smooshed into a desirable look and the adhered to the top of the pumpkin

Take the 2 by 4 inch strip of green and cut a 1/4 inch fringe along one of the long sides

Shape into a stem and glue closed. Attach to the top, and your done!

Saturday August 22nd, Scrapmuse is hosting a "Summer Get Away" Crop. Challenges are allready being uploaded so you can get started. All day there will be games, make and takes and new challenges added every two hours. I will be running a fastpaced bingo starting @ 3pm eastern (make sure to get your bingo words in early)

Here's a sneak peek at my first challenge

Lets take a trip to Hollywood, walk along the strip, maybe stop by the Hollywood walk of fame and see the stars.

For this challenge you need to create a LO or altered project. I want see photos of people wearing sunglasses (to keep that hollywood sunshine out of their face ). You will need to incorporate some stars into the project, for the Hollywood stars. and don't for get to add a little bling! Hollywood is full of shining starlets.
