An altered Forest
Last month I reviewed this tree coaster book for Serendipity Scrapbooks. Here's the how-to for all of the altered trees :)
{they were used as pages in the "tree full of monkeys" minibook}
An Altered Forest by Teresa Matz
*supplies*
Maya Road Tree Coaster Album,buttons, glitter, rickrack, loose pompoms, ink {all in varying sizes and shades of green}ribbons, felt flowers , paper scraps, ink {all in varying sizes and shades of brown}staples, liquid glue, red stickles, 3 small pink buttons, Glassy accents glaze
*tree #1 {embossed cover of the album}
1. Using liquid glue, cover the embossed leaves with glue. Glitter with light green mirco glitter. Allow to dry and shake off extra glitter
2. Rub brown ink into the embossed trunk of the tree, highlighting the wood grain. Allow to dry
3. Draw a small heart on the tree trunk with red stickles, allow to dry.
*tree #2
1. Cover base of tree with ink, mostly green with brown on trunk
2. Staple 3 strips of brown ribbon to coaster, creating a trunk
3. Randomly cover the remaining coaster with green button, allowing green ink to peek through between buttons
*tree #3
1. Create tree trunk by gluing down strips of brown pattern paper
2. Spread the rest of the tree with liquid glue, fairly thick
3. Cover the glue with varying sizes of small green pompoms. Press them well into the glue and allow to dry
*tree #4
1. Cover base of tree with ink, mostly green with brown on trunk
2. Staple strips of ruffled brown ribbon or lace to coaster, creating a trunk
3. Using at least 1 yard of rickrack, {staple end to back of coaster, to stabilize it} wrap randomly around tree top, crossing back and forth..... covering most but not all of the coaster face.
4. Tuck in loose end or staple down on back
*tree #5
1. Thickly cover the front of the coaster with liquid glue {avoiding trunk area}. Cover with dark green micro glitter. Allow to dry, shake off extra glitter
2. Cover glittered area with a layer Glassy accents glaze. Press three small pink buttons into glaze, top right corner} to create a blossom. Allow to completely dry!
3. Create a trunk {in space left open} by stapling down a layer of brown felt flowers.

October Review for Serendipity
I reviewed the Kringle line from Glitz Designs

Looking for paper that is fun, funky, colorful, but still a touch traditional for your Holiday LOs? Well the Glitz Design Kringle line is it! This heavy weight, double-side paper takes a fun and colorful twist on traditional Christmas icons. You get Christmas trees, Santas and ornaments but with a edgy feel. The backs of the papers are just as fun as the fronts, there are great grids and distressed solids and. The papers all coordinate beautifully and are great for holiday or winter layouts, cards and making holiday decorations.

Thickers Silver Tinsel, Shiny.....Silver......Thickers, what a great combo! These thickers are so fun and pretty. I just love the flirty, curvy shape of the letters. They are foiled Chipboard, so great for adding dimension to a project. Perfect for winter or girly LOs/Cards. The adhesive holds well, no falling off letters!

Glitz Icing Strips.......How cool are these strips! Glitz has brought us 12 inch long strips of "icing" . These strips are so pretty, and easy to use. Add a whole strip for a big flash, or the strips easily pop apart so you can place individual jewels on a project. The adhesive works great, so no worries about losing your "icing".

life gets in the way
wow, I can't believe how long its been since I sat down and blogged! Life just seems to get in the way some times! Right after my last entry we found a new home to move into....... and I had two weeks to pack the whole house. It was totally a gift from God! We went from 7 people in 1000 sq feet and two bedrooms to 3000 sq feet 6 bedrooms {and a schoolroom, 2nd family room, and a great-room.....} We had some amazing help getting moved, and got most of it done in one day and were sleeping in our new rooms on the first night. One of the only things that wasn't moved that day was our phone service, so our phones and pc stayed behind. Um.......BIG mistake! Although we live in the middle of no where, down a long dirt road, in a valley not visible from any other road........... someone who knew we were moving came and stole all our computer equipment and our electric piano. I am mostly sad about the 6 years of pictures that I had on the hard drive, UGH!!!
Well, we are much happier in all this space. I was even able to paint {with hubby's help!} before we moved in , and I LOVE the new colors. I can't wait to finish painting the hallway and maybe my bedroom. Right after we moved in my parents came and stayed for a few days so Bubba and I could go up north to a conference. The conference was so-so, but the time away was nice. And, after driving around lost for about an hour...we got to visit with my best friend and her family for a while.
Things are slowly getting back to normal. I am behind on getting my design team stuff done. But my new craft-room is currently storing all the un-opened boxes, so I need to dig out my scrappy stuff.

changing Seasons
I just spent all day washing every piece of clothing my 5 kids own...... that's a lot of loads! We dumped out drawers, folded, sorted, packed away for winter and passed down sizes. I still need to get all of the boxed up winter clothes out of storage, but maybe later this week. I always dread this chore, but it feels so good when its all done, the drawers all neat and the hampers are empty {well for a few minutes anyways} The kids are so funny when its time to pass down clothes. The kid growing out of the item, is sad because they are all their favorites, and the new owner is so overjoyed to get their older siblings greatest treasure. Funny, isn't..... How kids don't make fun of hand me downs. My kids Love it, they also love finding one of a kind treasures at second hand shops
